The CM.040 GEN 2 airsoft replica by CYMA is an electric AEG rifle based on the AKS-74 design and belonging to the 040 series. The model combines a metal construction with a side-folding stock, a V3 gearbox with a Quick Spring Change (QSC) system, and a CYMA V3 MOSFET, supporting the operation of the electrical system.

Construction and design

The CM.040 GEN 2 replica retains the classic AKS-74 silhouette, characteristic of the AK platform with a side-folding stock.

The side-folding mechanism allows the overall length of the replica to be reduced for transport and easier handling in confined spaces.

Materials and construction

The receiver and key structural components are made of metal. The construction also incorporates aluminum elements and polymer components, including the handguard and pistol grip.

The use of metal components gives the replica weight and characteristics similar to those of the firearm on which it is based.

Internal components and mechanics

The replica features a V3 gearbox equipped with 8 mm ball bearings. The internal configuration includes a piston with a full metal tooth rack and a short-type high-torque motor with neodymium magnets.

The Type 0 cylinder supports the operation of the pneumatic system in combination with the installed inner barrel.

The gearbox also features a Quick Spring Change (QSC) system, allowing the main spring to be replaced without opening the gearbox shell.
To access the QSC system, the gearbox must first be removed from the replica's receiver. Once removed, the spring can be replaced without disassembling the gearbox, making it easier to adjust the replica's power configuration.

Electronic system

The CM.040 GEN 2 features a CYMA V3 MOSFET, responsible for controlling the operation of the replica's electrical system.

The MOSFET supports the electrical system during firing and allows operation with the LiPo batteries specified for this model.

The replica has a factory muzzle velocity of up to 400 FPS.

It is equipped with a brass inner barrel measuring 500 mm in length and 6.05 mm in diameter, supporting shot-to-shot consistency.

The metal AK-type hop-up chamber allows adjustment of BB backspin, enabling the user to adapt the BB trajectory to shooting conditions.

Power supply

The replica uses a T-connect connector and is compatible with 7.4V and 11.1V LiPo batteries.

The battery is housed under the receiver cover.
