Great gun, looks good, but requires a some or a lot oft tnkering. Mine might have just been faulty, but the tapped plate broke shortly after first usage of the gun. I believe it is made for 8.4v batteries. So if you plan to use it with an 11.1V i reccomend also replacing the magazine battery with a stronger one so the bb's feed properly. After a bit of tinkering this guy is a beast and gets a lot of attention.

I’m not into Airsoft (yet) but I wanted to have a MG42 in my collection that is affordable. At 1/20 if the price of a real one this is the best alternative! Very well made repro … only the bolt etc is not there due the airsoft mechanics. From the outside it looks very real! Even the Zweibein/bipod is a well-done replica! Only a pity the Airsoft battery and Air-target crosshair is not included …

Definitely the most eye catching piece of kit you could have on the field it really stands out and feels like a beast in the hands not for running and gunning it really is a support gun through and through with it's size and weight great for holding down and area or defending and objective build quality is superb with it all being made out of metal and the stock out of wood so it's sturdy my only issue is the stock has a very small bit of wobble nothing major only because that's where the battery is stored so you'll be twisting it on and off quiet abit apart from that this is the cheapest you'll find an MG42 on the Airsoft market the only other one is the G&G brand but that is way more expensive so if you're looking for an affordable/fun replica of the MG42 this is where you'll get it without breaking the bank.

      An expencive but fun replica!
This replica is very realistic/good for displaying and playing. It's also a great "fidget" machine; it has a lot of things to open/unscrew/flip/slide....
Construction: The main parts are made out of some metal (not steel). I also handled a older version of this one and there were no major breakages; some parts were worn (where you attach the bipod for example). The replica comes partly disassembled; if something doesn't want to go together, don't use force. Wiggle the parts or try reattaching - otherwise you'll break something. When I attached the side charging handle, it was very loose - I don't know if that's correct. Bipod looks sterdy, but don't be too ruff with it ; the attachment point is made out of pot metal.
The battery compartment is a bit small: the longest battery you can stick inside is about 160mm and about 30mm in diameter (24mm x34mm does not fit inside the tubular stock compartment).
The performance was good; about 1,2J with 0,32bbs and hop set. ROF was also high (about 1000 rpm). The hop-up is hard to adjust: you have to open the top cover and remove the feed tray to wreach the hop lever. The stock inner barrel is about 600mm long and the hop is simmular to AK design. Metal hop chamber has a lot of room inside for the hop-up rubber - use some teflon tape.
The gearbox: it's two part design. The lower has the motor inside the pistol grip and it holds the gears. They were greased very little and shimming isn't great, but it sounds good. Upper gearbox is very thick and it looks that it could handle stronger springs. It also has a QC spring system (very simmular to M60/M249). The nozzle is plastic and 29,4mm long, cylinder head is long type (like in the M60). Piston head and piston are both fully plastic. It has a 0 type (full) cylinder and air seal was exelent (without the air nozzle). Inside there was an M110 spring.
The drumm mag is a peace of work. Full of catches, levers and doors. It holds about 1500 bbs, but it doesn't feed all of them. It is powered by 4 AA batteries (I think) and it winds when you hold down the trigger. I don't think it has a clutch system. On the older replica I had to fix the magazine; the spinning feed tray, that pushes the bbs into the flexible channel was stripped - it was spinning freely on the motor axel). However, so far I had no problems with the magazine.

At last, there is an affordable MG42 that can deliver suppressive fire as it is supposed to be. Do not expect a similar quality as the G&G version, but this AGM can keep up nevertheless. As with any AEG replica, sooner or later, you will have to focus on upgrading and maintenance to get the best out of your gun. Still, out of the box, this AGM MG42 does an impressive job.
The stock may wobble a bit (not the wooden stock itself, but the metal attachment that goes into the rear of the rifle). This can be easily fixed with some tape. The real wooden stock brings an authentic touch to it all.
The mag requires four 1.5V batteries for the servo-motor that shovels the BBs out of the mag and pushes them into the flexible hose towards the "breech" from the top. Attaching the mag does not take long, once you get used to the procedure: fill the mag with batteries and 2500 BBs, position it onto the front hook while guiding the BB-hose towards the BB-entrance hole. While closing the rear hook, gently push the BB-hose into the hole until it snugly fits. Then, connect the wires between the mag and the gearbox, so that the mag-servo will be activated, once you pull the trigger. It's simple and intuitive, once you have done it a few times.
Reloading BBs during a skirm does not require detaching the mag. You can slide it open at the top, just enough as to allow for a refill with the help of a funnel, or out of a bottle, if you practice that procedure a bit before the battle. Then, close the sliding lid and your mag is full again.
I have tested mine with one of my usual 11.1V lipo batteries. The rate of fire is amazing, although I did not measure it yet. The mag needs some time to push the first charge of BBs into the "breech", so that my first impression was disbelief: why does it not shoot any BBs? After a few seconds, they came out of the muzzle. Hundreds of them, in a few seconds. And straight. Very nice grouping, although that criterium was not on the top of my list, when I considered buying this MG42.
You may want to do some maintenance and perhaps upgrading on this gun, as with any other. The gearbox can be detached from the receiver with a few actions, it's not complicated. Exchanging the spring is really simple, due to the quick detachment design.
Before I'll take this MG42 to the field, I want to inspect the interns and estimate as to what may need some attention. It shoots well, but I want to ensure that it stays like that.
You will definitely bring some fire power to the field when you get yourself this gun. Bring a lot more BBs with you though, you are going to spend them quite fast, while keeping those heads low over there!

Guy is awesome and unique. Material is fine its good quality but not top tier. Easy to asemble. I had issue with little "door" on mag. It was blocked and slided a few time from place that was holding it. Its an easy fix. Great gun for some casual player or cosplayer. Im using 11.1v battery and its shooting really fast.

The STAEG23, also known as the AGM MG42, is an airsoft replica of the iconic German World War Maschinengewehr 42 (MG42), a weapon renowned for its historical significance. Expertly crafted with attention to detail, this machine gun honors the original design while meeting the demands of modern airsoft enthusiasts.

As Close to the real model

The construction of the AGM MG42 replica has been meticulously designed with attention to detail, faithfully replicating the appearance of the Machine Gun (Maschinengewehr 42). Its construction is primarily metal, encompassing various elements such as the muzzle brake, barrel with cover, front sight mounting base, trigger guard, bolt chamber with receiver cover, folding rear sight, and pistol grip base and the receiver are predominantly made from metal. Additionally, stamped steel components include the bipod, barrel changing lever, bolt charging handle, and the base for the sight with an anti-aircraft notch.

The wooden stock not only complements this machine gun's historical authenticity but also features a designated space to house the battery, allowing for a seamless integration of modern technology. Adding to its realism, the replica boasts a fully adjustable Hop-Up system, enhancing accuracy and performance on the airsoft field. The Hop-Up adjustment mechanism is conveniently located under the bolt cover.

High capacity Magazine

One standout feature its impressive 2500-round drum magazine, designed to provide ample ammunition for extended play during intense airsoft battles. This high-capacity magazine significantly reduces the need for frequent reloads, allowing players to stay in the action longer without interruption. The box magazine is powered by four AA batteries (not included), which ensure consistent feeding and reliability during sustained full-auto fire. This means that whether you're in a fast-paced skirmish or a strategic ambush, you can count on the drum magazine to keep your rifle firing smoothly and efficiently.

A reinforced Gearbox For suppressive fire

This machine gun is a meticulously crafted airsoft replica, built not only for historical exactness but also for high performance on the field. Its innovative dual gearbox system allows for quick and easy spring changes, enabling players to adapt the replica's power to different game scenarios. The internal mechanism is reinforced with premium parts, ensuring durability and consistent performance.

At its core, the AGM MG42 features an M120 spring, providing a muzzle velocity of 360-380 fps, ideal for medium to long-range engagements. The all-steel gears are mounted on sturdy 8mm ball bearings, which minimize friction and wear, extending the lifespan of the internal parts. The chrome-plated cylinder enhances air compression for improved shot consistency, while the directional piston head with bearing optimizes airflow for maximum efficiency.

In addition, the metal spring guide adds to the durability of the gearbox, and the high-torque short motor delivers reliable power, ensuring smooth operation even under high-stress conditions. These features make this machine gun a versatile and reliable choice for airsoft players who demand both historical authenticity and modern-day performance.

This airsoft replica embraces both history and innovation, making it an appealing choice for enthusiasts seeking a blend of authenticity and modern airsoft technology. Whether you're a collector or an active airsoft player, the MP042 delivers a well-crafted and meticulously designed experience that pays homage to the German great gun of World War II.
