What is ASG?

ASG is a shortcut from Air Soft Gun. It is very popular team sport.  Pellets to ASG are plastic and usually they have a diameter of 6 mm but in grenade launchers 8mm ammunition can be used.

What distinguishes ASG? This is a sport that consists in imitating playing hostilities or tactical actions, that's why replicas used,  are very similar to real weapons. The look like real guns and mechanizm used,  perfectly imitates pistol, so the only difference is ammunition.

ASG is a team sport for everyone. The age or gender doesn't matter. The only important thing is, to have a great fun and to have proper accessories, and tactical equipment,  that will protect you from injuries.

What is the Airsoft gun? It's a pneumatic replica of the gun. ASG stands for different types of armament. It's: rifles, shotguns and pistols that use pellets. Airsoft guns differ from each other in type of power. There are : Spring, electric and gas replicas.

Spring replicas perform using compressed air in the cylinder. This mechanizm requires reloading (stretching the spring) before every shot.  
It is extremely time-consuming and it is not a weapon recommended for airsoft battlefields, where, apart from accuracy and a good eye, time is also important. So we decided to focus on the other two types of power. Below we will answer the question: electric or gas airsoft gun?

Electric Airsoft Pistol

Electric Airsof pistols (i.e AEP) have electric power. That allows you to shoot with single or continuous fire, until the magazine is fully empty. The gun uses composite BBs. The ASG electric pistol is very easy to use, so it is a perfect replica for beginner players. However, it requires charging, so it is a good idea to get additional batteries before the game.

Operation method

Electric Airsoft pistol uses gearbox mechanizm. Pressing on trigger starts the motor and as a result the gear affects the spring tension. Its sudden release causes a quick movement of the piston, blowing air into the barrel with the help of a nozzle. The compressed air in the cylinder then fires the ball.

Application

This type of weapon will be great for games in terrain, where game members divide into two  groups. Electric Airsoft pistol won't disappoint you in cold climate.  Thanks to Auto option you can use it as a machine gun, so it's perfect for CQB games ( games in closed spaces).

Gas Airsoft pistol

In resolving the issue: Electric or gas  ASG, we need to discuss gas Airsoft pistols (i.e GBB). The gas powered pistols are based on a magazine containing compressed gas (CO2 or Green Gas). This replica also imitates the bolt's recoil after firing, which makes it even more similar to a real pistol.

Operating method

The mechanism of action is based on a closed and compressed gas. Pressing the trigger causes the valve to open, releasing the gas which is responsible for accelerating the ball. In addition, part of the substance is used automatically to move the bolt, so this weapon does not need to be reloaded.

Application

Gas ASG gun allows you to fire semi-automatic fire and even an automatic series. It is a great replica for both airsoft games and recreational shooting. It is recommended for more experienced players, who perfectly adjust the settings of the replica, which is less repeatable than its electronic version.

CO2 or  Green Gas Airsoft pistol?

CO2 Airsoft pistol is a very popular type of a weapon. It uses 12g cartridges with compressed CO2. They are disposable, which means that they can't be fully charged or discharged until they are fully empty.  One load is enough for up to 60 shots, so you will fire 2-3 magazines with BBs.  Additionally, the CO2 airsoft gun has a higher muzzle velocity than Green Gas.

What is the Green Gas? It's usually a mixture of propane, silicone and fragrance oils (allow you to smell the escaping gas). The composition was selected to ensure as many stable shots as possible from a single charge. At the same time, the substances protect the moving parts and prevent the seal from crumbling. However, this mixture is sensitive to low temperatures. The replica on Green Gas works similar to the one on CO2. An external large-capacity tank can be connected to the Green Gas gun, so it can also be recharged at any time.

Electric or Gas Airsoft pistol?

Still thinking which type of pistol to choose, electric or gas ? For beginner players we recommend electric version. It's much easier to operate and cheaper to maintain. This replica requires batteries or rechargeable batteries, that may be more favorable in price then CO2 or Green Gas cartridges. It's also a perfect gun for people that simply just wanna have a great fun.  For more experienced players, for whom a realistic representation of the use of a pistol is the most important, gas powered replicas will be more suitable. However, they are less reliable at low temperatures.

Although electric pistols are more universal, it is up to you whether you choose electric or gas airsoft gun. You need to think about in what conditions you'll be playing and whether  you plan to take part in Airsoft games or just shoot as recreation. The answer to these questions will allow you to choose the perfect gun and then  “go into battle”!
