The only primary difference - plastic balls are used in airsoft guns. This ammunition usually have 6 mm caliber.  Some of the replicas might require 8 or 11 mm ( but it's really rare). How to choose BB pellets to ASG?

• weight,
• quality (smoothness),
• material that it's made of and additional properties ,
• amount in a package.

You also have to make sure that specific type of BB's will be good for your replica.

Weight of ASG BB's

There is a lot of factors that will have an impact on weight of BB's. For example : material used, air content, and unfolding in the form. Weight should be adjusted to the rifle used, specifically to its FPS (Feet per Second), which means to the BBs' muzzle velocity. Matching the right weight won't guarantee that you'll find perfect BB pellets but it will be a good start.

FPS  and  weight of ASG BB pellets:

• 175-350 FPS – 0.20-0.23 g,
• 350-500 FPS – 0.25-0.30 g,
• 500-700 FPS – 0.32-0.50 g.

The stronger the gun is, the heavier ammunition should be used.  Typical replicas use BB pellets of weight of 0,20-0,25 g.  For more modified guns, 0,28 g and more will be better. Choosing ammunition also depends on type of the gun. Airsoft rifles requires 0,25-0,28 g BB pellets, cheaper  sniper rifles requires 0,30 g and 0,43 g are required for more modified replicas.

Next very important thing is smoothness of BB pellets. Every defect , irregularity will have an impact on accuracy and it can cause jamming of the weapon.

You also need to make sure that the ammunition used is not dirty, because it may have an impact on shooting. Besides smoothness , there is also few more factors that have an impact on quality of ASG BB's.  You have to pay attention if ammunition is:

• regular,
• same size,
• ideally oval.

The material of ASG BB pellets

The right choice of ASG BB's depends on material that they are made of.  If  the game takes place in a forest, it's worth to choose biodegradable ammunition.  They break down much faster, so you can have a great fun without hurting natural environment.

The most popular type of BB's, are the one that are glowing in the dark.  They are perfect for the night games. Fluorescent BB'S not only look cool but also make the game easier. They leave a visible mark of a light streak, that helps to shoot more accurately by correcting the fire trajectory.

There are also different colors to choose from. The most popular are white and black BB pellets.  First ones are more visible so it's easier to duck  and to take a precise shot.  Black ammunition is nearly invisible.
