What ASG stands for?

ASG is a shortcut from English  Airsoft gun. This means pneumatic replica of firearm that is used during role play in  historical military activities ,paramilitary battles or police clashes. Airsoft replicas are manufactured in a 1: 1 scale compared to their real equivalent. Thanks to that, the game is very realistic. Many replicas resemble a firearm not only in appearance, but also in the way they work.  An excellent example of this type of phenomenon is the Blow Back system, which is responsible for the recoil of the bolt, characteristic for real pistols.
Airsoft replicas differ from firearms in one essential aspect. The type of ammunition.  The replicas shoot with small plastic balls with a diameter of 6 mm.

ASG is a team game in which ASG replicas are used.
It's a hobby not only for military fans, but also for people interested in history. The game can take place in open space (for ex. in a forest or in a filed), as well as in closed buildings (for ex. abandoned factory or vacant property).  People that participate in ASG, are divided into teams and they shoot to their opponents according to strict rules that guarantee safety.

An important element of the game is to prepare the tactical plan, knowledge of basic war survival and  appropriate equipment.  Many games are enriched in story-line that makes it even more interesting experience.

ASG is a sport for everyone. Gender or age are irrelevant, great and safe fun is all that matters.  This is why younger people should play under adult supervision.

Types of replicas

Before we will explain the rules of ASG, we want to outline the types of replicas available. Choice depends on your individual needs and place where the game will take place. Perfect for games in closed rooms (CQB) are submachine guns, that combine fire rate and small size.  For games in open space, it is worth to choose ASG machine gun, that allow you to make accurate shots at medium and long distances. An interesting choice are also sniper rifles, which characterized by unusual precision of the shot. They require preparing position for shooting in hidden place, which will allow for snipe.  Important is, that younger players or people unsure whether ASG is for them or not, should pick easy to use and cheaper guns. It is also good to have a pistol during ASG game, that will be additional back up equipment if the first gun stop working properly.

Power type

Airsoft replicas also differ in types of power. There are few types like: spring, gas and electric powered replicas. Read on, to find out what are the best types of airsoft replicas.

Spring powered replicas

The spring replica uses the most basic power. Its operation is based on compressed air, located in the cylinder, which is placed in the lock. Because of this, the system is extremely cheap to maintain (it does not require the use of disposable CO2 cartridges, Green Gas cylinders or batteries). Due to its easy operation and low price, the spring powered replicas is often recommended for beginners. However, this mechanism is quite time consuming. After each shot from a spring rifle, it must be reloaded (spring pulled), this is why it is not suitable for dynamic games.

Gas powered replicas (Green Gas and CO2)

Gas powered replicas work using closed and compressed gas. When the trigger is pressed, the valve opens, releasing the gas responsible for launching the ball and making the bolt movement. Because of this, there is no need to reload the replica after each shot. At the same time this mechanism imitates the recoil of the bolt. making replica very similar to real gun. Gas powered replicas also allows you to select the fire mode between single and continuous. Gas Replicas can use CO2 or Green Gas. Their operation is similar but CO2 replicas guarantee higher muzzle velocity and Green Gas replicas are more comfortable and faster to load. Due to the fact that the gas power is less repeatable, it is recommended for more advanced players.

Electric power

Electric powered replicas use gearbox mechanism. The electric motor responsible for the movement of the gear that stretches the spring, starts when the trigger is pressed. The sudden release of the spring causes the immediate movement of the piston blowing air into the barrel, thanks to which the shot takes place. With the help of electric replicas, you can shoot single or continuous fire. They are easy to handle and load, so novice players can also use them.

ASG rules

ASG rules are pretty simple. The most important is to take care of your own safety as well as the safety of the other game players. This is why, the proper equipment and tactical accessories are so important. It is obligatory to wear protective glasses and airsoft uniforms that protect against injuries caused by plastic balls during game. The second most important ASG rule is, to treat the game not too serious. ASG is a great game but it's not worth to cheat in it. Be fair to other players and admit if you get shot. During some games, there could be some other more detailed rules set up. New rules can be set up for competition by its organizer.

How much it costs?

The cost of ASG depends on many factors. Firstly, it's the type of replica. If you choose spring shotgun, you will pay less then for electric rifle. Remember that if you want to play ASG for a long time, it is worth to invest in better quality replica, so you can use it for a longer time. Next cost is to buy ASG pellets, CO2 cartridges, Green Gas cylinders and batteries (when it's needed). Without them, shooting will be impossible.

The next significant expense is tactical equipment. Many beginners thinks they are unnecessary, but it's on the contrary. Safety glasses made of certified material,  face mask, thick clothes,  tactical vest and high boots with a hard sole are the most basic elements of ASG clothing. Without them, you could get seriously injured.
