The licensed MP5 submachine gun replica by CYMA Platinum is an electric airsoft gun with a fixed stock and Heckler & Koch markings. The replica features a GEN-2 V2 gearbox with a QSC quick spring change system, a Kestrel V2 MOSFET/ETU and a RIS-railed handguard that allows additional accessories to be installed.

Construction and design

The replica features metal external components, while the handguard covers, lower receiver and fixed stock are made of nylon. The replica weighs ~2876 g and has a total length of 675 mm. Licensed Heckler & Koch markings are located on the left side of the lower receiver near the magazine well and on the upper receiver. The individual serial number is located on the magazine well.

The aluminum RIS-railed handguard allows the installation of additional lights and lasers and foregrips. The outer barrel is fitted with a classic muzzle device featuring a tri-lug mount and a 14 mm CCW thread. The tri-lug mount allows a compatible Silencieux Traceur QD MP5K, MP5 PDW SPITFIRE [5KU] suppressor to be installed, while the 14 mm CCW thread supports tracer units and suppressors using this standard.

Ergonomics and handling

The replica features an ambidextrous fire selector and two magazine release controls. The magazine can be released using the button on the right side, where the magazine well meets the lower receiver, or the lever positioned in front of the trigger guard.

Three sling attachment points are positioned on the front pin, on the left side of the magazine well and on the stock. Their arrangement allows the sling mounting method to be adapted to the equipment configuration and preferred way of carrying the replica.

Pulling back the charging handle exposes the hop-up chamber. Easy access to the adjustment mechanism makes it easier to match the pressure applied by the hop-up bucking to the weight of the BBs without removing the replica's external components.

Internal parts and mechanics

The GEN-2 V2 gearbox is equipped with a QSC quick spring change system. The mechanism uses CNC-machined 13:1 gears in a short-stroke configuration, 8 mm ball bearings and a piston with a full metal rack. The system is driven by a long-type neodymium hi-torque motor.

The pneumatic system includes an aluminum silent head set, a steel type 2 cylinder and a 21.00 mm Teflon nozzle with an O-ring. The internal assembly is completed by a steel bearing-mounted spring guide.

Electronic system

The Kestrel V2 MOSFET/ETU provides electronic control over the replica's operation. The wiring is fitted with a T-connect connector, which can be accessed by removing the stock buttplate. The replica's rate of fire is ~26 RPS.

Performance and precision

The brass AEG inner barrel has a length of 225 mm and a diameter of 6.03 mm. The replica uses a polymer MP5-type hop-up chamber.

The standard out-of-the-box configuration provides ~380 FPS in the Stock version. The replica can also be purchased with a power configuration service providing ~350 FPS in the Medium version or ~300 FPS in the Low version. This allows the selected configuration to be matched to the limits used at a chosen airsoft field.

Power supply

The battery compartment is located inside the fixed stock. The replica uses a T-connect connector and is designed to work with the 7.4 V or 11.1 V batteries listed below.
