M8881 Golden Eagle: The new goto Breacher?

When unboxing this replica it immediately impresses with its construction. It feels like a solid replica, with extensive use of metal (receiver, barrel) which gives you a premium, reliable feel. It's compact, making it an good choice for maneuvering in tight spaces. Although, it has to be said that it's not light, but has a realistic weight. The overall look and feel is fantastic and what really stands out is the mechanical sound of the pump action that fully enhances the experience and makes people run in CQB!

The box comes very complete: you receive the shotgun itself, two shells, a handy BB loader, and even a cleaning/unjamming rod for the barrels. This is a nice package for the price point.

I decided to upgrade the M8881 with a T238 burst+ tracer, which I highly recommend also for the price point. To do this, I had to remove the screw cap on the compartment under the barrel, so the tracer has enough room to fit the main barrel.
The barrel below the main barrel has a storage compartment for shells, so when fitting a tracer it is not usable anymore. I wasn't planning using it so no big deal. I do want to note, that this compartment is spring loaded and it does have some rattle in it. I might be filling this with foam or something to overcome this. With the tracer attached, the shotgun is still short enough not to drag on the ground when worn on a sling, an ideal setup.

The cycling or pump action mechanism requires some practice. The pump action is very light, which helps with rate of fire. However, the slide must be pushed completely forward until the end of its travel. If you short-stroke it, the pump can feel like it ‘locks up.’ The sound of the shot itself is a 'puff', but the true character comes from the mechanical noise of the racking/pump action immediately following the shot.

I knew this going in, but this version has no top rail. No deal breaker but screw holes on top to fit universal picatinny could have been a nice addition. Just to know. You might need to look into 3D printing and gluing some accessory rails in the future to fit a red dot for example.

The M8881 works perfectly with the included shells, much better then my previous shotun, it does a good job ejecting shells, this is important in fast gameplay. It also fits previous shells I had from CYMA.
I prefer realistic gameplay, but you have a disadvantage versus mid or high cap players. So.... for those who want sustained firepower, I also use the BATTLEAXE M4 magazine adapter. This offers a different playstyle, though even a 90 BB mid-cap will empty very quickly since you're firing 3 BBs per shot.

The trigger is not particularly crisp or light, or has an very good point, but for a shotgun, I personally do not find this to be a major drawback.
There are two BB modes, 3 or 6 BBs. I primarily used the 3 BB mode (it's also the only allowed mode at our field). During testing, I found the 6 BB mode occasionally misfeeded, firing fewer than six BBs. Switching between modes can be done on the fly via a mechanical switch.

Although the gun is green gas powered, I strongly recommend an HPA conversion which can be done very easily. Simply unscrew the gas fill valve and replace it with an HPA connector (the Balystik HPA male connector for SECUTOR / Golden Eagle shotgun was a perfect fit, i did need some teflon tape or wire to get a good air seal). The shotgun does require a higher operating pressure than other GBBR replicas I use on HPA. I require 130 PSI to achieve 1.15 Joules with 0.25g BBs (my GBBR uses 80 PSI). The HPA conversion is absolutely worth the investment for consistent performance.

Grouping at CQB distance is excellent. At 10 meters, you will consistently hit a 10 cm wide target with the 3 BB spread. Shooting 0.25g BBs at 1.15 Joules, the effective range is about 40 meters. The grouping is wider at this distance, as no hop-up adjustment is possible.

The price-to-quality ratio is great, especially when I compare this to my previous €100 spring-action shotgun. This shotgun does not appear to compromise on quality compared to more expensive brands who cost two or three time as much.
For those new to the shotgun platform, or doubting between this and a more expansive brand, this model provides a easy entry point from price perspective. My initial thought was 4/5 stars due to the minor quirk in the pump action, but given the price, the build quality and performance, I give this replica 5/5 stars. If you are considering a compact, almost full metal, gas shotgun, do not hesitate, just get it!

Very good gun had no issue nice range for a shotgun only downside so far is that its not very gas efficient had to top it up often during a 30 minute match but other than that no issues with it. I would recommend as a side gun

Recently puchased this breacher shotgun. Works very well and is really fun to use in a cqb area. I’m very pleased with it!! Works also very well with TM shells. I purchased in the past also other stuff from Taiwangun and have to say the quality is very high and never had any mayor troubles

Tested it for the first time this weekend and it performers verry good, i alsof converted it to hpa with a simple nipple
For now i can not say ainything about the long therm usage bit for this price i would recommend the shotgun

This is a great gun for CQB. The weight and action are just right and the sound of reloading genuinely makes players run away! Being Golden Eagle it is pretty much a carbon copy of a TM and so will accept TM shells.
