Super-tight cylinder head [SLONG AIRSOFT]

I was suprised by this product. At first the airseal seemed lost (heavy leakage) but when firing it actually works great, I bought it to match nozzle and hop up, but ended up increasing my joule, and made the carbine quieter.

Was looking for a high quality polymer cylinder head for my new high speed DSG build. There aren’t too many “plastic” cylinder heads on the market as currently it seems that most manufacturers got lost in a game on how strong parts they can make. “The stronger the better” strategy isn’t always the best approach, especially when said part is the only thing protecting gearbox from impact of the whole piston assembly. Polymer not only transfers less energy than aluminum, but should also give up first in case of excessive shock energy from a strong spring – I’d much rather have to replace cylinder head than some unique gearbox shell that is nowhere to get.

This Slong cylinder head has an over-sized bumper that also serves as a sealing element. This has following benefits:
- it is easy to get a good seal with the cylinder – very tight fit,
- thicker than standard bumper absorbs more energy. Together with polymer body it should prolong life of enclosing gearbox shell,
- combined with flat piston head it is quite silent.

It is worth noting that the bumper is quite hard, however it is softer that for example stock Double Eagle rubber on their cylinder head. It is also thicker, so effectively it feels slightly softer than it actually is. In high speed builds bumper actually shouldn’t be too soft, so that it can return to it’s original form before next cycle (that is also why sorbo pads are frowned upon in builds with faster engines/gears).

I would recommend this for high-FPS or high-speed builds where there is no possibility (or budget) for an upgraded CNC machined gearbox shell.

Cons:
- slightly harder to put in a cylinder
- not that silent when combined with FPS Softair piston head (it is not flat)
