      Hello,
my English isn't very good, so I'll use Google Translate and hope it works properly.

      It's a really old-school sight; it's installed on my XM-177. Visually, it's perfect.
The aiming might seem a little confusing at first, but you just need to let your eyes adjust, which in my case was quick.

I tested it this weekend during a game in the woods, and it was great; the red dot is clearly visible even in average light.
Personally, I didn't use the system with the metal brackets, but the one that comes pre-installed in the box.

      Absolutely great replica in itself.
I love it, even with its little quirks. That said, there's 3 issues that may bother some people:
      1) The light-conveying fiber isn't good at catching ambient light in buildings unless there's a light on or something. Whenever I walked into an area indoors where the front wasn't facing a window or some other light source, the dot was almost impossible to see. I'd wager the real ones had more sensitive fibers?
      2) The mount with the metal strips (aka the older one) are a nightmare to assemble, and no guide is provided. I almost stripped one of the threads in the retention cyllinders. Getting that assembled was pretty much a work of luck and I'm planning to never disassemble this.
      3) The channel in the older version of the mount mount doesn't actually line up with the iron sights. You can't use them as backup. However, looking through the channel is good enough for aiming in CQB when I can't see the dot in less lit areas indoors.

But this really brought my 1970s tacticool XM177 build together, for which I'm grateful and really happy with this replica.

OEG-type optical point sight - a replica of a classic solution from the late 1960s and 1970s, inspired by some of the first point sights used in military applications. The design is based on a passive fiber-optic system, created with reenactors, collectors, and enthusiasts of historical equipment in mind. A lightweight replica with a retro character, perfectly fitting the style of early military rifle configurations.

Pursuit of Precision

The sight uses the classic OEG (Occluded Eye Gunsight) concept, meaning an aiming system based on shooting with both eyes open, without the need to align traditional iron sights. The aiming point is visible to one eye only, while the other eye observes the full field of view, and the user's brain merges both images into a single point of aim.
Solutions of this type emerged in the late 1960s, when military and testing environments began intensively searching for faster and more intuitive aiming methods in combat conditions. OEG sights were used experimentally on military rifles and machine guns, mainly within test units and specialized formations, where reaction speed and natural target engagement were critical.
At that time, the lack of battery power was a major advantage - the passive fiber-optic system provided an aiming point that was always ready for use, regardless of conditions or logistical support. The fiber-optic system used in this replica collects ambient light and transmits it to the central aiming point, faithfully reproducing the operating principle of the original designs.

Compact and modern design

The replica faithfully reproduces the characteristic appearance of early point sights, preserving their raw, functional aesthetics. The absence of traditional lenses and electronics emphasizes the historical nature of the design and clearly distinguishes it from modern red dot sights.
The housing is made of lightweight alloys and composite materials, allowing the sight to maintain low weight and good balance on the replica. The sight tube features atmospheric markings inspired by historical patterns, further emphasizing the retro character of the replica and its reenactment-oriented purpose.
The compact dimensions make the sight perfectly suited to classic rifle configurations, including solutions based on mounting above the barrel or on a carry handle, commonly seen in historical weapon setups from the Cold War era.

Reliable internal system - fiber-optic system

The passive fiber-optic system does not require power supply or brightness adjustment. Ambient light is collected and directed to the aiming point, which remains visible even in demanding usage conditions. The large aiming point, characteristic of this type of solution, facilitates rapid target engagement and faithfully reflects the characteristics of historical OEG sights.
The absence of electronics also means high resistance to external conditions and full readiness for use at any time, exactly as intended in the original designs of this type.
