I bought this initially because the 6 mag ak pouches were out of stock. I run 8 mags so I really did not need that 6th mag on my best because it would be on the gun itself while the extra 2 are on my belt so basically I traded the space for my 2 pistol mags on my belt for 2 ak ones. The ak mag slots are a bit bigger than the actual mags. I got ak 74 style cyma mags so there is a bit extra room in the slots which makes reinserting mags very easy. Now mags do not move around unless you want them to because of the retention straps. I think they made the slots slightly bigger to acomodate for those beefier mags like maybe the ak12 ones. Pistol mags fit nice and snug.
