The Cybergun XM177E2 Colt M610 replica from the CGS Vietnam series is a unique project inspired by legendary carbines used during the Vietnam War. This model was created thanks to the cooperation of CYMA, T8 (SP System), and Taiwangun, combining the classic appearance of Vietnam-era firearms with modern CGS (CYMA Gas System) technology. A brief history

The original XM177E2 was a compact variant of the M16 rifle, intended for special units, particularly MACV-SOG. The production of this model was relatively limited, which makes it today one of the more unique constructions from the Vietnam War period.

The shortened construction allowed for easier handling of the weapon in confined spaces and during patrol operations in dense jungle environments.

The most characteristic features of this design included a short barrel, a distinctive flash moderator, and a 2-position stock. These solutions significantly reduced the overall length of the weapon while maintaining the effectiveness of the AR-15 platform.

One of the most recognizable elements of XM177E2 carbines is the flash moderator with a characteristic grenade ring, enabling the mounting of the XM148 or M203 grenade launcher, which in the original was intended to reduce the effect of muzzle blast and flash from the short barrel. The replica retains this stylistic element, giving it an authentic appearance of a Vietnam War-era construction.

Typical construction elements for this platform were also used, such as a round forged upper, a front sight base without a bayonet lug, a front sling mount attached with a spring roll pin, and the characteristic delta ring handguard mounting, which replaced the earlier slip ring solution used in older AR platform variants.

The replica also reproduces the styling of the bolt carrier group, with a graphite-gray-black bolt carrier, characteristic of later AR-15 platform versions used in XM177E2 constructions.

Additionally, to increase durability, the manufacturer used steel external components in key areas of the replica. These include, among others, the muzzle device (moderator), forged front sight, bolt catch, magazine release, trigger, construction pins, magazine, and buffer tube nut. The use of these components significantly increases resistance to wear during intensive use.
